Supported text API
claude-haiku-5-5 · claude-sonnet-5-5 · claude-opus-5-5
Anthropic Messages with multi-turn text. Input is limited to 32 KB of UTF-8 text and output to 8,192 tokens. Tools and image input are not supported.
With stream=true, SSE events are returned after generation and billing have completed. This version does not deliver tokens in real time.
- Create your account. Sign in with email, Google, or GitHub and complete any required email verification.
- Create an API key. Use a separate key for each application and keep it private.
- Configure your client. Enter the base URL, your VM API key, and the exact model ID.
- Verify the connection. Use a model enabled for your account, then review the response, usage and charges in Usage & logs.
Client settings
| Setting | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Base URL | For the Anthropic SDK, set base_url to https://vimuroute.com. The HTTP request endpoint is https://vimuroute.com/v1/messages. |
| API key | Use a VM API key created in your account. Keys issued by other providers cannot authenticate VM requests. |
| Model ID | Copy the exact model ID from the catalog, including any version numbers or suffixes. |
In a desktop chat client, choose a provider option that supports a custom endpoint. Your client and the selected model must use the same API format. Compatibility can vary by client and feature.
The current API uses Anthropic Messages. Other protocols and model quotes in the directory are reference information; confirm support before integrating them.

Replace the example endpoint and key with your account settings. Check the selected model and API permissions in the console.
Idempotency-Key is an optional UUID header. Reuse it when retrying the same operation; the server generates one if omitted. SDK examples disable automatic retries.
python -m pip install anthropicfrom uuid import uuid4
from anthropic import Anthropic
client = Anthropic(
base_url="https://vimuroute.com",
api_key="YOUR_VM_API_KEY",
max_retries=0
)
request_id = str(uuid4())
response = client.messages.create(
model="claude-haiku-5-5",
max_tokens=1024,
messages=[{"role": "user", "content": "Hello!"}],
extra_headers={"Idempotency-Key": request_id}
)
print(response.content[0].text)Run this example on your computer or server. Keep real API keys out of public browser code.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | What to check |
|---|---|
| 401 | Check that the key belongs to VM, is active, and has no extra spaces. Never post the complete key in a support message. |
| 403 | Check your account permissions and access restrictions. An active key may not have access to every model or region. |
| 404 | Check the base URL, path, and exact model ID. Different API formats use different paths. |
| 429 | Check the request-rate and concurrency limits. Reduce simultaneous requests and wait before retrying. |
| 5xx / timeout | Check service status and your network connection. A retry may be billed as a new request, so limit automatic retries. |
| Balance | Check that the payment completed, credits were added, and the selected key has enough remaining spending allowance. |
